Mane included in World Cup Squad

Bayern Munich forward, Sadio Mane has been included in the list of players released by the Senegalese Football Association to represent the country at the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The forward was forced off with injured in the first half of Bayern Munich’s victory over Werder Bremen over the weekend and the club said he had an injury to the head of his right fibula which will lead to him missing Saturday’s game against Schalke.

Mane has been in Munich since he got injured before traveling to Austria for a further test where it was revealed that he won’t be needing an operation, and the club disclosed that they have been in touch with the FA of his country.

Senegal National Team’s coach, Aliou Cisse corroborated Bayern Munich’s statement when he was quoted as saying “We are monitoring the situation and have sent one of our doctors to assess him.”

Sadio Mane remains Senegal’s go-to man having scored the winning penalty when the Teranga LionsĀ became AFCON champions for the first time in February, defeating Egypt in a shoot-out in the final.

Both teams clashed again after two months in a decisive World Cup qualifier and Mane repeated the feat, netting the decisive spot-kick in front of the home fans in Dakar.

He remains the country’s highest goal scorer with 34goals in 93 matches, and the entire Senegal will be hoping he is available for their opener against The Netherlands on the 21st of November.
