After NASA has confirmed to launch much awaited and ambitious James Web Space Telescope into orbit, the European Space Agency is all set to come up with new observatory to go into space.
Europe’s big telescope named Euclid Space Telescope will be one of the biggest observatories into orbit after the Hubble Space Telescope and the upcoming James Web Telescope to be launched in December 2021.
Euclid Space Telescope will first map the geometry of the space beyond earth and better understand the elusive and mysterious particles causing expansion of the universe.
This observatory will help to study dark matter and dark energy present in the space and to further observe how it can operate in extreme environments.
The instruments on the Euclid Space Telescope are designed in such a way that they can operate and achieve desired results in the extreme environments of space. Telescope will help astronomers to understand the growth rate of cosmic structure and universe’s history in better way.
European Space Agency believes that the new observatory can find billions of galaxies from distance of ten billion light-years with remarkable accuracy.
The telescope has 3.1 meter diameter and 2100 kilograms mass. It is 4.5 meter tall. ESA will launch this observatory for a period of 6 years.
