Every human being struggles a lot to keep their eyes healthy. Eyes are one of the important and delicate organs of the human body. We always try to take great care of our eyes. However, constantly increasing hours of screentime by working in front of laptops and computers and then over-use of mobiles by the youngsters have been increasing risks of eye’s health issues.
Consequences of over screentime are visible. Myopia or Nearsightedness is a common vision challenge among youngsters and Hyperopia or Farsightedness between the ages of 40 and 60.
Here are 4 basic tips for healthy eyes
1. Eat Healthy for eyes
Eating food rich in vitamin A is good for your vision. Carrot, Mango, Papaya, Fish, Sweet Potato, dark leafy greens and dairy products are rich in vitamin A foods. However, apart from vitamin A, you should include other essential nutrients like vitamin C, vitamin E, copper, and zinc containing foods to your diet.
Eye exercises like rolling eyes, looking up and down, side to side, close and open, near and far focus and concentration exercise help to relax your eye’s muscles. Redo these exercises five times in the morning.
3. Take rest
Closing your eyes for just a few minutes while reading, sitting in front of computer or screentime can be refreshing. This simple exercise sounds easy yet important to protect your eyes from over exertion or fatigue.
4. Get enough sleep
Your eyes and body require enough sleep for your health and wellbeing. If you engage in intense visual activity, your body needs enough rest to recharge for other activities.
