Dandruff is a common scalp condition affecting up to 50% of people of all ages.
It causes dry, itchy and flaky skin on the scalp. These white and grey flakes are often noticeable and therefore reduce your self-esteem.
The most common causes of dandruff are
• Oily scalp
Accumulation of excess oil and dirt are the common causes of dandruff.
• Dry scalp
Dry scalp causes irritation of the skin.
Humidity causes sweat, especially on your scalp and hence produce excess oil. Excessive oil production on the scalp leads development of dandruff.
Dandruff occurs when the scalp becomes dry and greasy and produce flakes of dead skin. Dandruff flakes are larger and often fall on the neck and shoulder.
Home remedies to treat dandruff at home?
1. Coconut oil
You can warm some coconut oil and directly massage it on your scalp for few minutes. Let it for one hour and wash your hair with mild shampoo as you normally would.
2. Fenugreek hair mask
Soak one bowl of Fenugreek seeds overnight. Grind the Fenugreek seeds to make fine paste. Add an egg or curd into the paste, mix it well and evenly apply on the scalp. Massage the mixture on the scalp and let it stay for 30 minutes. Wash your hair with mild shampoo.
3. Lemon juice
Squeeze one fresh lemon to make juice.
Add one spoon honey in the juice and mix it well. Massage lemon juice on scalp for few minutes. Rinse your hair with lukewarm water.
Take fresh aloevera leaf and extract gel from it. Rub the gel on your scalp and hair and let it sit for one hour. Wash your hair with lukewarm water.
Apply yoghurt directly on your scalp and massage gently. Cover your hair with shower cap. Leave until it’s dry and wash your hair with shampoo.
